Well you know I’ve been tapping away at the dissertation which is due in a couple of weeks and after two or three years (I forget which) it looks like it’ll actually get finished this time.
Also I’ve been playing more grand theft auto 5 than I should. So these two things have kept me from making appearances here.

But now I am and I wanted to big up a business that’s been part of the local scene since I was a little kid.
Darrell Lee, I remember used to have soft serve icecream and the employees wore these colourful uniforms with big loonytoons style bow ties.
Neither of those things are part of it now but it’s still there on malop st in the main shopping area. They’re making coffee there now as well as selling licorice and chocolates and stuff.
We went there and had a coffee before christmas and it looked like it’d just been rejigged for coffee. We decided to go there again today and I was think I bet it’ll be really busy but was still quiet. So at the moment it falls into the Best Kept Secrets category.

  1. and there really was a Darrell Lea.
I am so old I recall the clowny smocks and neck bows.
My weakness is the choc covered licorice. and it comes as an Easter Egg too. For years I have espoused The Darrell Lea Diet: breakfast is 5 peppermint creams after which one is too ill to eat anything else for 24 hours, and as we all know, there are fewer calorjoules in them than in 3 meals.
    Good luck with the dissertation.
